A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Software Project Lead to join a dynamic team transforming the way software is developed and delivered to support testing across the full UK defence product portfolio.
This role reports into the Test Equipment Software Resource and Capability team, facilitating robust and timely test of missile systems and ensuring the delivery of decisive military capability for home nations and allies.
Key Responsibilities:
*
Lead a multi-disciplined, agile software team delivering test solutions across hardware, software, simulation, and real-time systems
*
Act as design authority for software developed by the team
*
Facilitate configuration, verification, and validation of software for the full product range, from development through production to field test scenarios
*
Manage multiple projects including planning, scheduling, and cost estimation
*
Build and maintain strong working relationships across multi-disciplined software project environments
*
Engage and influence senior stakeholders within the business
The ideal candidate would have:
*
Proven history in software development, ideally with experience in low-level C programming
*
Ability to build high-performing teams and mentor staff
*
Experience in cost estimation, planning, and scheduling work
*
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
*
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders
The ideal candidate must have:
*
Significant software engineering experience within complex defence or military systems
*
Demonstrable ability to act as design authority for software projects
*
Experience delivering software in multi-disciplinary, high-pressure environments
*
Proven track record in leading software teams to successful delivery
