Job Description
Job Title: Solar Design Engineer
Location: Hull (1 mile out, End of M62) - must be within 1 hour's drive
Employment Type: Full-time, 5 days a week
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience and proposal capability)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Solar Designer with experience in preparing proposals and system designs for solar PV projects. This position requires strong technical ability alongside the capability to produce clear, professional, client-facing proposals. Applicants with both design and proposal experience will be offered the higher end of the salary range.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed solar PV system designs using PVSYST and SolarEdge Designer
Create and update electrical building drawings in AutoCAD
Utilise Trimble and other design tools to ensure accurate layouts and integration
Produce accurate and well-presented client proposals and supporting documents
Ensure compliance with industry standards, technical requirements, and health & safety regulations
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to support project delivery
Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reports, schedules, and presentations
Requirements
Proven experience in solar PV system design
Proficiency in PVSYST, SolarEdge Designer, AutoCAD (electrical), Trimble, and Microsoft Office
Strong proposal writing and presentation skills (preferred)
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Must live within a 1-hour commute of Hull (HU postcode, near M62)
