Job Description

Greenvolt Next is committed to decentralized energy production, as it represents one of the key pillars of the energy transition and a crucial lever for reducing electricity bills. We have partnerships across Europe, based on local expertise and a deep understanding of each market. The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the solar PV portfolio through performance monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis and accurate reporting. The role exists to maximise plant availability and energy production while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance. The role requires regular travel to customer and project sites, including overnight stays where necessary, and occasional out-of-hours support based on operational requirements. Key Accountabilities Preventative and Corrective Maintenance * Plan and complete scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections across C&I and utility-scale solar PV systems, including all associated electrical, monitoring and balance-of-plant equipment. * Diagnose system faults, alarms and underperformance; complete authorised repairs, replacements, thermographic inspections and electrical testing, escalating complex issues where required. * Coordinate periodic site activities, maintain spare-parts records and support equipment warranty claims with manufacturers. Monitoring and Performance Management * Monitor daily plant performance through SCADA and remote monitoring platforms, analysing key indicators such as Performance Ratio, availability and system yield. * Investigate technical events, performance anomalies and underperformance, taking or coordinating appropriate corrective action. * Support the collection, validation, classification and reporting of operational data, working with the Performance Analyst and technical teams to determine the cause of system events. Planning and Site Delivery * Plan site attendance, including access, RAMS, permits, customer notifications, contractors, tools, equipment, materials and spare parts. * Manage and prioritise workloads across a UK-wide portfolio of operational sites. * Provide clear and timely updates before, during and following each site visit. Contractor Supervision * Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors, ensuring they are appropriately briefed, inducted and compliant with approved RAMS, permits and site rules. * Raise Permits to Work for high-risk contractor activities where trained and authorised to do so. * Monitor work quality and completion against the agreed scope, reporting any safety concerns, defects or outstanding work. Reporting, Compliance and Safety * Produce timely site reports and maintain accurate maintenance, warranty, compliance and asset-management records, including findings, test results, photographs, defects and follow-up actions. * Provide technical updates for monthly O&M and customer reports, covering system condition, availability, faults and corrective actions. * Comply with all company procedures, RAMS, permits and UK health and safety legislation; report hazards, incidents and quality concerns, challenge unsafe behaviour and support continuous improvement. Experience * City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 electrical qualification, or an equivalent recognised technical qualification, with a background in electrical engineering, renewable energy, solar PV, maintenance or a related discipline; an engineering degree and BS 7671 qualification are desirable. * Relevant training or certification in electrical inspection and testing, solar PV, thermography, working at height, IPAF, PASMA, first aid or high-voltage awareness is advantageous. * Minimum two years’ relevant experience within solar energy, electrical maintenance or renewable energy, including C&I rooftop, ground-mounted or utility-scale solar PV systems. * Experience in preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections and fault diagnosis, with practical knowledge of modules, strings, inverters, isolators, AC/DC cabling, meters, data loggers, monitoring systems and balance-of-plant equipment. * Strong analytical, fault-finding, communication, reporting, organisational, planning and IT skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites, work independently and contribute effectively within a wider O&M and engineering team.
