Solar PV Electrical Surveyor & Design Engineer

£50,0000-£55,000
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to conduct surveys and assessments for solar PV installations across commercial sites in the UK. This role suits a qualified electrician with design experience and reporting skills who’s ready to step away from the tools and contribute to the growing renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed electrical surveys to assess suitability for solar PV systems
Identify defects or issues that could affect system performance
Document findings accurately and professionally
Prepare electrical Bill of Quantities and Scope of Works
Coordinate survey tasks with the technical team and manage priorities
Plan and execute survey schedules independently and punctually
Use company van for travel to nationwide project sites
Compile clear, professional reports using data and images from surveys
Review and update job management system records
Requirements
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and current regulations
Experience identifying defects related to Solar PV installations
Self-motivated with excellent planning and time-management skills
Proficiency in IT/reporting tools and confident in producing clear documentation
Excellent communication skills and team collaboration
Clean UK driving licence and age 25+ (for insurance purposes)
Willing to travel nationwide as needed
Qualifications (Required & Preferred)
Required: AM2, 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3, Level 3 Testing & Inspection (2391 or 2394/2395)
Preferred: Level 4 Design & Verification (2396), Solar PV QualificationBefore You Apply
