Astute's Renewables team is very proudly partnered with a huge player in the global solar market. We have a focus on the UK market for them and we're looking for a Solar Technician to join the team.
This role will involve assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting and enhancement of existing solar systems, including upgrades, repairs and performance optimisation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a keen interest in solar technology and a willingness to learn and grow in the renewable energy industry

Responsibilities and duties of the Solar Technician role
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will:
General Maintenance of Commercial PV Sites
Perform general site duties, including unloading materials, moving equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Carry out basic groundwork and mechanical tasks related to solar installations.
Follow health and safety regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Work as part of a team to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
Assist in troubleshooting and basic maintenance of solar systems as required.
Operate tools and machinery necessary for solar installations, ensuring safe handling and proper usage.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar PV systems, including inverters, panels, and battery storage.
Conduct system inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary corrective actions.
Support the execution of additional services, such as system upgrades, panel cleaning, electrical adjustments, and warranty-related work.
Work closely with senior technicians and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and to industry standards.
Document service activities, including work performed, system performance data, and any necessary follow-ups.
Provide basic customer support and communicate technical findings in a clear, professional manner.
Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in solar energy systems.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Relevant qualifications in electrical or renewable energy engineering (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds 2365/2330, or equivalent).
18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification (desirable).
Previous experience in solar PV installation and maintenance.
Working knowledge of electrical systems and components.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
CSCS/ECS card (desirable).
Previous experience in construction, electrical, or mechanical work, preferably in the solar industry.

Salary ranging from £36,000 to £42,000 DOE
