Service Care Solutions are delighted to recruit for an exciting opportunity with Social Security Scotland’s Appeals Branch, a specialist team responsible for advising on and managing appeals before the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland and the Upper Tribunal for Scotland.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Solicitor Role
Provide legal advice on the preparation and drafting of appeal responses.
Advise on procedural matters across First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal appeals.
Review Tribunal decisions and advise on the merits of pursuing appeals to the Upper Tribunal.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using the case management system.Essential Skills & Experience
Understanding of public law litigation, or willingness to develop skills in this area.
Ability to conduct strong legal analysis using multiple sources of information and data.
Clear and effective communication of complex legal issues within a broader strategic context.
Proven track record of delivering high-quality legal advice on complex matters.Working Pattern & Location
Based in Victoria Quay, Edinburgh.
Hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office.
Flexible working within the needs of the Unit.Additional Information:
Salary: Grade C1 – starting salary £60,010+ (negotiable)
Contract Length: 6 months, with potential 6-month extension
Ltd Day Rate: £314.90
PAYE Rate (including holiday pay): £267.31You must have a current practising certificate for SCOTLAND.
