Job Description

Fortress Recruit are working with a leading engineering organisation to recruit a Solutions Design Authority to join their growing technical leadership team.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong Air Traffic Management (ATM) background who can bridge the gap between operational users, customers and engineering teams. You'll spend time on customer sites understanding how ATM systems are used, identifying operational challenges and translating them into high level technical solutions that support future capability and infrastructure refresh programmes.

Working across engineering, operations and Integrated Project Teams, you'll shape solution concepts during the early feasibility and bid phases, influencing technical direction through collaboration, operational understanding and customer engagement.

Key responsibilities:

  * Build trusted relationships with SATCOs, operational users and customers

  * Understand operational challenges across Air Traffic Management systems and identify future capability opportunities

  * Translate customer requirements into high level solution concepts and value propositions

  * Work with engineering teams to develop practical, integrated technical solutions

  * Support capability refresh programmes through feasibility and early solution development

  * Present solutions to customers and key stakeholders, clearly demonstrating operational and technical benefits

  * Influence solution development through collaboration and technical credibility

To be successful, you'll have:

  * Experience within Air Traffic Management systems and a strong understanding of the operational environment

  * Strong understanding of systems architecture and multidisciplinary integration.

  * The ability to engage confidently with both operational users and engineering teams

  * Experience governing technical change and maintaining architectural integrity across complex engineering programmes.

  * Proven ability to translate complex customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.

  * Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non technical audiences.

  * Degree qualified in Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline

  * Chartered Engineer status and/or MBSE knowledge would be an advantage

  * Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement)
