Job Summary
We are seeking a Sourcing Specialist with an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background to join our client’s team. This role focuses on sourcing specialised parts and components to support engineers with their designs, particularly within an R&D-driven environment.
Unlike a traditional high-volume buying role, this position is centred on identifying, sourcing, and procuring niche items that enable innovation and support product development. The Sourcing Specialist will collaborate closely with the engineering team to ensure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality procurement aligned with design and project requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid technical understanding of engineering processes and terminology, and an interest in supporting innovation through R&D.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing and Procurement
* Source specialised parts, materials, and services to support engineering designs and R&D projects
* Place purchase orders, track order statuses, and manage lead times to ensure project timelines are met
* Support contract and agreement reviews with suppliers to ensure compliance with company standards
Supplier and Cost Management
* Research and engage with new and existing suppliers for niche engineering components
* Negotiate with suppliers to achieve value for money and maintain quality standards
* Analyse costs and identify opportunities for efficiency and savings
Collaboration and Support
* Work closely with engineering and R&D teams to understand project needs and identify sourcing solutions
* Provide market research on new materials, suppliers, and technologies relevant to product development
Experience and Qualifications
* 1+ years’ experience in procurement, sourcing, or purchasing within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Degree or background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field)
* Strong familiarity with engineering terminology and technical requirements
* Experience in sourcing, supplier negotiation, or contract management is highly desirable
