The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) from January 2026.
This is a pivotal leadership position, combining strategic oversight of SEND and inclusion with operational responsibilities across the provision. The successful candidate will support to lead on all aspects of SEND and SEMH provision, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) while embedding inclusive, therapeutic, and aspirational practices into daily provision.
Working closely with the Director of Education and other SLT members, you will contribute to the setting’s vision, culture, and continuous improvement, helping shape our provision as it continues to grow and develop.
We are committed to professional development and will support the successful candidate with external training, supervision, and opportunities to further their leadership capacity.
Support to lead and manage the strategic development of SEND and inclusion across the setting.
Oversee assessment, planning, and support for students with SEND and SEMH needs.
Coordinate and quality assure EHCP processes, annual reviews, and individual learning plans.
Work as a core member of the SLT, contributing to whole-provision leadership, safeguarding, and quality improvement.
Support, guide, and train staff to deliver effective, inclusive teaching and learning strategies.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and provision on learner progress and outcomes.
Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure effective collaboration.
Contribute to key areas such as safeguarding, wellbeing, behaviour, and curriculum development as part of SLT duties.
Ensure all SEND provision aligns with statutory guidance, inspection frameworks, and the values of Keats Engineering and Education Ltd.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to undertake this qualification).
Proven experience in leading or coordinating SEND provision.
Strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice and best practice for inclusion.
Experience working with learners with SEMH and a range of additional needs.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Previous SLT or middle leadership experience.
Experience in an alternative provision, vocational, or therapeutic setting.
Training in trauma-informed or restorative approaches.
Experience working with local authorities on EHCP processes.
