Job Description

Veritas Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SENCO to join a vibrant and supportive school in Wakefield. We are looking for a passionate and experienced SENCO to ensure that the school provides the best possible educational experience for all students, particularly those with additional learning needs. This role is perfect for someone who is committed to driving inclusion and providing tailored support to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Support: Lead and manage the SEN department, providing guidance to staff on best practices for supporting students with additional learning needs. Individualised Education Plans (IEPs): Develop and oversee IEPs to ensure each child's needs are met, working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals. Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess and monitor the progress of students with SEN, adjusting interventions where necessary to ensure positive outcomes. Staff Development: Provide training and support to staff members on effective strategies for inclusion, differentiation, and managing a range of learning needs in the classroom. Liaison: Work closely with parents, external agencies, and other professionals to provide holistic support for students and ensure effective communication. Compliance & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of SEN provision and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.Key Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and SENCO Qualification (or willingness to undertake the qualification). Experience in a SENCO role or a strong background in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs. A passion for creating inclusive learning environments and supporting students with diverse learning needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
