SEN Teaching Assistant – Monmouth Full-time, Monday to Friday | 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a lively and caring school setting? We are currently looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive resource base within a fast-paced and inclusive primary school in Monmouth. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to helping young people with a range of special educational needs, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex communication needs. About the role As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential part in the daily learning and development of children with additional needs. You’ll be based in a special resource base that supports pupils with PMLD and other complex learning requirements. You will help them access the curriculum in a way that is tailored to their individual needs while also assisting with social, emotional and physical development. Key responsibilities Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils with PMLD and other special needs Support teaching staff in planning and delivering personalised learning activities Help pupils with communication and engagement using a range of supportive strategies Assist with physical needs, including personal care and mobility support, when required Encourage independence and build trusting relationships with pupils and staff What we’re looking for Previous experience supporting children with special needs, especially PMLD or autism A positive and proactive attitude in a busy school environment Confidence in managing a range of behaviours and support needs Strong communication skills and a caring, team-focused mindset Willingness to assist with personal care, with guidance and support from the team Desirable skills and experience Makaton training (not essential) PEG feeding training (not essential) Experience working in a resource base or special school What the school offers A fast-paced but welcoming school that supports staff development and growth A supportive leadership team and experienced colleagues Regular CPD and training opportunities in SEND Competitive daily pay between £88.92 and £101.92, paid weekly through PAYE A clear path for career progression in a rewarding education setting This SEN Teaching Assistant role offers a chance to truly make an impact while developing your skills in a school that values its pupils and staff.
