If so, this opportunity as a special needs teaching assistant is for you! About the school: The school is a primary school located in Barking & Dagenham. It is close to Dagenham East tube station (District Line) and is well connected with bus routes. It also has on-site parking. The school is a mainstream primary school with an Additional Resource Provisions (ARPs) for students with Autism and speech, language and communication needs. About the role of a special needs teaching assistant: As a special needs teaching assistant, you will be an essential pillar of support for young learners with a diagnosis of Autism Your primary responsibility will be to provide personalised care and guidance, fostering a safe and nurturing environment that encourages growth and development This rewarding opportunity will see you support young people to overcome challenges and unlock their full social and academic potential Employing proven strategies to address challenging behaviours, fostering emotional regulation and positive responses. What we're looking for as a special needs teaching assistant: Experience: Previous experience as special needs teaching assistant working with children with autism or in special education settings is highly valued Understanding: A genuine passion for working with special needs children, with an understanding of the challenges they may face Patience and Empathy: The ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic, even in challenging situations Adaptability: A flexible approach, capable of tailoring teaching techniques to accommodate individual learning styles. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and therapists.
