Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Autism Unit

Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join the autism provision of a warm and inclusive mainstream primary school in Queen's Park, starting September 2025.
About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a dedicated Autism Resource Base that supports pupils with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You'll work closely with experienced SEN staff to provide tailored support, helping pupils access learning, communicate effectively, and thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with autism within the specialist unit and, when appropriate, in the mainstream classroom
Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and communication strategies
Support children's social and emotional wellbeing, encouraging independence and self-regulation
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent and nurturing learning environment
Contribute to a positive, inclusive and respectful classroom culture
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs (essential)
Knowledge of autism strategies such as PECS, TEACCH, or Makaton (desirable)
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach to behaviour management
The ability to work as part of a collaborative and supportive team
A commitment to helping every child reach their full potential
