The Role: Targeted Intervention for Teenagers We are seeking a resilient, experienced professional to provide intensive, targeted support to students (aged 11-16) who face significant emotional and behavioural barriers to learning within the mainstream setting. This is a hands-on role requiring a calm, consistent, and therapeutic approach. What You Will Do: Intensive Intervention: Deliver specialised 1:1 or small group interventions focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and functional academic skills, guided by student EHCPs and behaviour support plans. Behaviour and SEMH Support: Utilise a trauma-informed and restorative approach to manage complex and challenging behaviour in and out of the classroom. You will be crucial in de-escalating crises and supporting students back into the learning environment. Mentorship: Act as a key adult, building strong, professional, and trusting relationships that guide vulnerable students towards positive choices and successful re-engagement with their education. Specialist Expertise: Provide knowledgeable support for students with specific needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, and school refusal. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Heads, and teaching staff to ensure cohesive and holistic support across the school. Essential Skills & Expertise Relevant Experience: Significant experience working directly with secondary-aged young people (11-16) with Complex SEMH, Challenging Behaviour, or Multiple SEND (e.g., in a PRU, AP, or specialist unit within a mainstream school). De-escalation: Proven ability in safe behaviour intervention and crisis management techniques (formal training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or similar is highly desirable). Instructional Aptitude: The ability to support and deliver focused interventions on core subjects (e.g., functional literacy/numeracy) or life skills. Resilience & Consistency: The capacity to maintain professional composure and consistency in challenging situations, demonstrating outstanding patience.
