Are you an exceptionally compassionate, dedicated, and highly skilled Learning Support Assistant looking for a deeply rewarding role in a specialist setting? Do you have experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical needs?
Vetro Recruitment is actively seeking a specialized LSA to join a dedicated PMLD Specialist School in the local area. This is a vital, hands-on role focused on creating a positive, communicative, and nurturing environment for pupils who require the highest level of physical, medical, and educational support.
The Ideal Role for You:

Location: Specialist PMLD School across [Specify location, e.g., Swansea/Bridgend Area]
*
Job Type: Full-time, Long-term/Supply assignments available
*
Pay: Competitive rates ranging from £85 - £128 per day (depending on experience/qualification)
Key Responsibilities:
*
Provide dedicated one-to-one or small-group support to pupils with PMLD, sensory impairments, and severe physical difficulties.
*
Implement communication strategies (e.g., PECS, objects of reference, sensory cues) and assist with sensory integration programs.
*
Assist with personal care, manual handling, and complex feeding/hoisting following established protocols (training required).
*
Proactively implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and support therapeutic programs led by OTs, Physios, and SaLTs.
*
Utilize de-escalation strategies and maintain a calm, structured environment.
*
Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, medical needs, and specific physical and communication responses.
Essential Requirements:
*
Proven, recent experience supporting individuals with PMLD/Complex Needs in a school or care setting.
*
Current training in Manual Handling and Hoisting is highly desirable.
*
Familiarity with alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, etc.).
*
Exceptional patience, empathy, and physical resilience.
*
A willingness to assist with personal care and medical needs.
*
A fully enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) – we can assist with obtaining a new one if needed.
*
References covering the last two years with no unexplained gaps.
