Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant - Chesterfield
Academics are looking to appoint a passionate and resilient Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a dedicated secondary setting in Chesterfield. This exciting position is perfect for someone who thrives on making a difference and supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, social, and learning needs.
The Role
As a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will:
Provide tailored support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Work 1:1, with small groups, and within classrooms to deliver targeted interventions.
Assist teachers with planning, preparation of resources, and behaviour management.
Take responsibility for leading sessions or covering classes in short-term teacher absence.
Build positive relationships that encourage independence, confidence, and academic progress.
Support both on-site and, when required, during safe and well visits or home learning.
Contribute to safeguarding and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.Pay Rates
£111 per day
£555 per week (based on 5 days)
£21,645 per year (term-time only)Candidate Requirements
We are seeking a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant who can demonstrate:
Experience working with young people who have additional or behavioural needs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance (for occasional visits).
GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.Desirable qualifications include Team Teach or behaviour management training, First Aid certification, and prior work in alternative education.
