GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join schools across Hull. This role is ideal for someone who can provide targeted support, helping students reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant (Specialist TA), you will work closely with teachers to provide focused support to pupils with specific learning needs. You will assist in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment, adapt resources, and help deliver tailored learning interventions. Your role will also involve collaborating with staff and parents to ensure each child receives the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.
What you have to do as a Specialist Teaching Assistant:
Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual requirements.
Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive engagement.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Prepare and organise classroom resources for specialist interventions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
Encourage independence, confidence, and resilience in learning.
Support pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and transitions as required.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of personalised learning activities.
Specialist Teaching Assistant (Specialist TA) Qualifications:
Experience supporting pupils with additional or specialist learning needs.
A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field.
Relevant qualifications (desirable, e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting children.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
