Specification Technologist
Hours – fulltime Monday – Friday 8am – 5.00pm
Salary - £30,000

We are supporting an organisation in their recruitment for a Specification Technologist. This is an exciting time to join their business as they continue to go from strength to strength, it’s a vibrant place to work, and no two days are the same.
The Specification Technologist will play a vital role in supporting the technical team by ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of product specifications, labelling, and technical administration for key customer accounts. This position is responsible for helping to deliver products that meet all safety, quality, and legal requirements from concept approval through to successful launch.
Duties
Maintain exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Apply a strong understanding of product specifications, labelling standards, and compliance requirements.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers, both verbally and in writing.
Work confidently with retail customer systems and consistently meet their technical requirements.
Operate independently with a self-motivated approach, effectively managing competing priorities.
Proactively identify and resolve challenges to ensure accurate and timely outputs.
Provide administrative support to the Technical department to ensure efficient management of customer accounts.
Accurately maintain and update product specifications using retailer-specific platforms.
Deliver technical documentation and compliance records in an organised and timely manner.
Ensure all data and documentation meet both internal and customer standards.
Become fully competent in retailer systems to manage specifications and technical data effectively.
Ensure specifications are completed accurately and approved within agreed timelines.
Verify that all product labelling meets safety, quality, and legal requirements.
Support the development of pre-packaged food products from concept approval through to launch.
Collaborate closely with Technical, NPD, Commercial, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on product and technical details.
Ensure all specifications and labelling are finalised before the launch of any new product.
Proactively manage timelines to support on-time delivery of all technical documentation.
Act as a key contact for technical administrative queries relating to customer accounts.
Build strong relationships with customers to ensure confidence in the organisation’s technical standards.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure clarity and consistency across all product and technical information.The Candidate
Experience as a specification technologist or in a technical administration role within the food industry is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of food safety, quality, and legal requirements, particularly around labelling.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer systems.
