Overview
This company is a fast-paced, well-established food manufacturer that is based in Leeds and looking to recruit a Specifications Technologist.
This is a key technical role responsible for managing, maintaining, and updating product specifications to ensure full compliance with food safety, legal, and customer requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and solid technical knowledge to join a collaborative, growing business at the heart of the UK’s food industry.
The Specifications Technologist Responsibilities would include:

Write, review, and maintain finished product specifications for major UK retailers and foodservice customers
*
Complete and manage retailer specification systems (e.g. Tesco TQC, M&S FIND, ASDA Matrix, etc.)
*
Ensure accurate translation of product development information into final specs
*
Liaise with NPD, Technical, and Production teams to ensure all specifications are accurate, approved, and up to date
*
Review raw material specifications and ensure supplier data is validated and aligned
*
Ensure all legal labelling, allergen, and nutritional declarations meet UK and EU regulations
*
Support customer audits and internal compliance activities as needed
The ideal candidate for the Specification Technologist role would have:
*
Experience in a similar Specifications Technologist or Technical Admin role in food manufacturing
*
Proficiency in retailer specification platforms (experience with Tesco/M&S/ASDA systems highly desirable)
*
Strong understanding of UK and EU food labelling legislation
*
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
*
Confidence working cross-functionally with technical, NPD, and supply chain teams
