Sporty Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) - SEMH Secondary School
Location: Chatham, Medway
Pay Rate: £88 - £90 per day

Are you an energetic, sporty individual who's passionate about inspiring young people and supporting them to reach their potential? Tradewind are seeking a Sporty Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Secondary School in the Chatham area of Medway.
Our students thrive in a smaller, nurturing environment where teamwork, resilience, and confidence are key. Physical activity and sports play a central role in building trust, motivation, and self-esteem - helping students engage positively in their education and personal development.
The Role:
As a Sporty Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) in both classroom and sports-based settings.
Use sport and physical activity as a tool to motivate, engage, and build relationships with students.
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help students manage emotions, develop social skills, and improve learning outcomes.
Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Model positive behaviour, teamwork, and perseverance on and off the pitch.
What We're Looking For:
A sporty, energetic, and resilient individual with a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs.
Previous experience in education, youth work, sports coaching, or mentoring is desirable.
A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Patience, empathy, and a calm, encouraging approach to behaviour management.

Willingness to travel up to an hour to work.
Legal right to work in the UK.
Experience working with children or young people with additional or SEMH needs is advantageous.
Flexibility, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
Hold, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the update service.
