Stat & Tax Accountant
Ilkeston or Nottingham – on site

The Company:

Role & Responsibilities of the Stat & Tax Accountant:
* Analysing client financial records for the last financial year.
* Identifying potential tax deductions and savings clients may have overlooked.
* Requesting additional information from clients for processing tax returns.
* Advising clients about tax laws and compliance requirements.
* Completing and submitting tax returns for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
* Liaising with HMRC on clients’ behalf to ensure efficient and accurate processing.
* Developing tax planning strategies to support clients’ long-term financial stability.
* Preparing corporation tax computations/CT600 forms.
* Assisting clients with cash flow and budgeting advice.
* Completing and reviewing VAT returns.
* Handling client queries and providing ongoing support.
* Offering advice, coaching, and sharing technical knowledge with colleagues.
* Supporting and reviewing the work of Trainee Accountants.
* Providing feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
* Other ad hoc duties as required.
About You as the Stat & Tax Accountant:
* Experience working in an Accounts Senior role at a small to medium sized practice.
* Part qualified ACCA / ACA or qualified by experience.
* At least 3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
* Extensive experience preparing year-end accounts.
* Strong interpersonal and management skills to mentor and supervise colleagues.
* In-depth knowledge of tax laws including PAYE, self-employment, business and investment taxes.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to calculate deductions and tax computations.
* Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex tax issues in simple terms.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
* Proficient in accounting software (Sage & Iris) and HMRC online portals.
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
