Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Steel Detailer to join a well-established and growing structural steel specialist in Harrogate. This role is ideal for a technically minded individual looking to start or develop their career in steel detailing, offering hands-on training, mentorship, and a clear development path within a fast-paced, supportive environment.
This position is suited to someone with a good grounding in engineering or construction who is eager to learn and grow into the detailing function, working closely with experienced professionals to support the delivery of bespoke steel projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce detailed fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, and erection plans using 3D modelling software (e.g., Tekla Structures or similar).
Interpret engineering and architectural drawings to create accurate steelwork details.
Liaise with internal teams including design, fabrication, and project management to ensure detailing output aligns with company standards and project requirements.
Support the checking and coordination of drawing packages and revisions.
Learn and adapt to internal processes, standards, and workflows with close mentoring from senior team members.
Assist with document control, drawing registers, and project-related administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements:
A qualification in structural engineering, construction, civil engineering, or a related technical field (HND, BTEC, degree, etc.).
A keen interest in steelwork or structural detailing, with basic experience or exposure to CAD or 3D modelling software (Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, Advance Steel, etc.).
Strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available for this role).
