Job Description
A Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator is required for an internationally trading steel company based in the Halesowen area.
If you have experience within the steel industry this steel operative / overhead crane operator position could be ideal for you. You will be responsible for banding up, operating cranes and driving counterbalance forklift trucks, amongst other duties.
Duties include;
Operating overhead cranes to handle steel
Driving counterbalance forklift trucks
Loading and unloading coils onto machine lines
Working on the back end of processing lines, e.g. Slitters
Banding up of processed steelThis Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator position is working days for the first few weeks but then moving onto mornings / afternoons rotating weekly, so you MUST be flexible to work the shifts.
Working mornings / afternoons: 6:00am - 2.00pm / 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Paying £14.17 per hour + bonuses
Multiple bonuses paid weekly, see below.After a 12 week probationary period you get an additional daily attendance bonus of £12.85 per day, which bumps your rate up by over £1.50 per hour for clocking in on time and completing a full shift.
They also pay a weekly production bonus, an additional £10-£20 per week, again after 12 weeks.
Temporary position to start with, long term prospects for the right person if you do well during your first few weeks.
