Sterile Services Supervisor
Wirral University Teaching Hospital
Arrowe Park Hospital Upton Wirral CH49 5PE
£13.13 per hour Monday – Friday plus enhanced pay at weekends
Shifts available Monday – Friday between the hours of 8.00am – 8.30pm

Join our dedicated team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Sterile Services Supervisor, where your leadership will ensure high standards of decontamination and infection control across surgical services.
As a Sterile Services Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, efficient, and safe decontamination service across the Trust. You will support the day-to-day running of the Sterile Services Department, ensuring compliance with national decontamination, infection control guidelines, ISO standards, and Trust policies.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead and supervise the daily production and decontamination workflow
* Ensure staff follow departmental protocols, quality systems, and health and safety regulations
* Perform and oversee routine testing (bioburden, Sterrad, protein residue)
* Support and develop staff through training on instruments, procedures, and IT systems
* Troubleshoot issues with Track and Trace software
* Assist with audit processes and departmental improvements
* Communicate effectively with hospital and theatre staff to ensure high standards of service delivery
* Provide shift cover at Clatterbridge Endoscopy when required
* Contribute to maintaining stock levels, equipment functionality, and departmental cleanliness
What We’re Looking For
Extensive experience in Sterile Services.
· Strong knowledge of decontamination equipment and procedures.
· Completion of or current enrolment in a leadership course (e.g., ILM Level 2+).
· Excellent understanding of health & safety, COSHH, infection control, and risk management.
· Ability to train, lead, and motivate team members.
· Clear communicator with good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
· Experience with Clatterbridge Endoscopy procedures (desirable)
· Working knowledge of NHS standards and ISO requirements (desirable)
· Strong administrative and rota management experience (desirable)
