We’re supporting a well-established engineering business at London Gatwick in their search for a proactive Stores Person to join their busy Supply Chain operation. This is a great role for someone who thrives in an organised, fast-paced parts environment and enjoys being the go-to person who keeps everything moving smoothly.
You’ll be an essential link between the stores function, technicians, and workshop teams, making sure materials, tools, consumables, PPE, and client-supplied items are received, stored, issued, and tracked accurately. The role sits at the heart of the operation, so attention to detail and great service matter. Occasional travel to other UK sites may be required to provide cover.
Key Responsibilities
Materials Issue
*
Support technicians with their parts requirements, providing efficient and friendly counter service.
*
Handle phone enquiries professionally and issue materials with full and accurate documentation.
*
Raise purchase orders for time-critical items when needed.
*
Pick, pack, and ship stock for outstations and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in SAP.
*
Deliver materials to internal teams and provide regular updates on pending and critical parts.
*
Produce daily reports on all critical orders.
Goods Inward
*
Receive and check deliveries, following internal processes and using company IT systems.
*
Safely unload vehicles (forklift use dependent on licence).
*
Maintain a tidy goods-in area and ensure damaged or missing items are reported promptly.
*
Label, store, and locate all new stock items, collecting goods from suppliers when required.
Stock Control
*
Participate in regular stock counts and reconcile stock levels.
*
Maintain accurate labels, bin locations, and PPE traceability.
*
Store items safely and appropriately, ensuring full compliance with stock control procedures.
About You
Essential
*
Strong customer-service mindset with experience supporting internal teams.
*
Solid understanding of stores processes and stock systems.
*
Accurate, organised, and able to prioritise in a busy environment.
*
Confident with IT systems (SAP experience beneficial).
*
Clear communicator, both written and verbal.
*
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
*
Previous experience in a parts environment (vehicle, GSE, plant, machinery, etc.).
*
GCSEs A–C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
*
Basic mechanical understanding.
