Now Hiring: Street Cleansing Operative
📅 Target Start Date: As soon as possible
📍 Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
⏳ Contract Length: Temporary - Permanent
💼 Working Hours: 07.00 am to 15:00, Monday to Friday
💸 Hourly Rate: £13.18/hour
🔍 Key Responsibilities
Carry out daily visual inspections of vehicles before use.
Follow all transport legislation and drive responsibly, ensuring safety for yourself and others.
Work collaboratively with other street cleansing crews and vehicles to clear designated areas efficiently.
Empty, clean, and correctly replace litter bins in line with agreed schedules.
Clean assigned areas to specified standards, removing litter, animal waste, leaves, twigs, dust, chippings, and other debris using appropriate tools and equipment.
Safely remove fly-tipped waste as directed, being mindful of hazards such as asbestos or sharps (needles).
🎓 Requirements
Full UK driving licence (up to 3.5 tonnes).
Competent in performing daily vehicle checks (e.g., oil, water, tyres, lights).
Ability to read, respond to, and sign off work instruction tickets or job sheets.
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Flexible approach to working hours, tasks, and changing priorities.
Ability to read and follow written instructions accurately.
Physically fit - able to lift heavy items and walk 8-10 miles per day at a brisk pace.
Effective team player, with the ability to interact courteously and professionally with colleagues, management, and the public.
Ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgment.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to build positive relationships and manage minor conflicts effectively.
Works collaboratively to solve problems and support change initiatives within the team or organisation.
