Stress Engineer
Due to growing project demand, we are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to take a leading role in the structural design and analysis of a cutting-edge defence platform.
This position will involve close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams across multiple UK locations, contributing to the development of an advanced aerospace structural solution.
Salary: Circa £58,000, dependent on experience
Location: Stevenage
Hybrid working: Minimum 3 days per week on-site due to programme requirements
Security Requirements: You must be a British Citizen or a dual national including British citizenship. Eligibility constraints may apply. All successful applicants will be required to obtain BPSS and SC security clearances.
About the role
The Mechanical Analysis Team provides structural, dynamic and thermal analysis capability across the entire engineering lifecycle-from early-stage concept development through detailed design, qualification, manufacturing support and in-service investigations.
The variety of work spans multiple technical disciplines, including (but not limited to):
Classical strength and structural calculations
CAE modelling for static, dynamic, fatigue, impact, non-linear and aeroelastic behaviour
Load assessment and derivation
Structural qualification and test support
Failure investigations and design improvement studies
You'll be part of a collaborative, knowledge-sharing group that encourages innovation, personal development and exposure to a diverse range of engineering challenges.
What we're looking for
A degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or a related engineering discipline-or substantial equivalent industry experience
Strong background in delivering structural analysis packages using both hand calculations and CAE tools (HyperWorks experience beneficial)
Confident in producing and presenting detailed technical documentation, with the ability to clearly communicate findings to a range of stakeholders
A proactive mindset with a passion for improving analysis methods, tools and processes
Ability to coach and guide early-career engineers
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as within multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Experience with composite structural analysis is advantageous
Willingness to work towards DV clearance is a plus
