Student Support Assistant – Secondary School (Behaviour Support) Location: CF40 Pay: £93 - £120 per day (depending on role and experience) Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time & Part-time opportunities available Flexible Working Available Are you confident working with young people and looking for a rewarding career in education? We are recruiting Student Support Assistants to work within a welcoming secondary school in CF40, supporting pupils aged 11-16 with behavioural and additional support needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy building positive relationships, promoting positive behaviour, and helping young people succeed both inside and outside the classroom. The Role As a Student Support Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting students throughout the school day. Your responsibilities may include: Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional needs. Building positive, professional relationships with students. Assisting teachers within lessons as a Teaching Assistant. Providing general classroom cover when required. Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence. Supporting students with social and life skills. Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Who We're Looking For Previous school experience is not essential. We are looking for confident, resilient and approachable individuals who can build rapport with teenagers and manage behaviour positively. We particularly welcome applications from people with backgrounds in: Sports Coaching Youth Work Support Work Residential Care Former Teachers or Teaching Assistants Ex-Police Officers Security Graduates looking to gain classroom experience Anyone with experience working with young people or transferable behaviour management skills This is an excellent stepping stone for anyone considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, pastoral support or wider education. Requirements Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent). Confident communicating with young people aged 11-16. Positive, patient and resilient approach. Able to build professional relationships and manage behaviour effectively. Willing to complete a strict vetting and safeguarding process before starting work. What We Offer Competitive daily pay of £93-£120, depending on the role. Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities. Free online Behaviour Management training through Teaching Personnel.
