Job Description
This Sub Agent opportunity exists with a tier one contractor delivering a £200M major civil engineering project in Plymouth. This major defence project supports a substantial upgrade in the UK's ability to service the national submarine fleet.
Your role as Sub Agent will oversee complex, varied and interesting works including below ground Civils, M&E, topside equipment including cranes, bollards, roadways quay wall, integrated services, new modular buildings, with interface across other sections including sheet piling and temporary works.
Key responsibilities
As Sub Agent you will plan, manage and monitor construction activities to deliver works safely, to specification, on programme and within budget, including preparation and implementation of Site Management Plans and Environmental Control Plans.
* Lead day‑to‑day site management from a SHEQ perspective, ensure compliance with statutory provisions and CDM regulations, manage temporary works (TWC/TWS in place), lifting operations (AP and Lift Supervisor in place), service coordination and accurate records of excavations and other critical activities.
* Implement company procedures for procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers, including pre‑start meetings, design kick‑off meetings where there is supplier design, and regular progress and coordination meetings. Maintain ongoing interface with the client’s operations team fostering good working relationships and contributing to performance reviews and feedback on the supply chain.
Sub Agent Skills and requirements
Civil engineering construction experience with strong technical and organisational skills, plus the ability to produce work package plans, task briefing sheets and method statements aligned with safety, quality and environmental requirements.
What you need
A relevant Civil Engineering professional qualification and at least five years experience in an engineering capacity having worked to Section Engineer or Sub Agent level with the ability to obtain SC level clearance on a UK Ministry of Defence site.
