Job Description
Job Title: Sub Agent - Highways
Location: Gloucester, UK
Contract Type: Contract (Inside IR35)
Duration: Ongoing
Rate: TBC (Inside IR35, PAYE/Umbrella)
Start Date: ASAP
Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Sub Agent to join a leading infrastructure contractor on a major highway project based in Gloucester. This is a long-term contract position working inside IR35, offering an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a complex transport infrastructure scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate site operations in line with project programme, budget, and quality requirements
Lead a team of Section Engineers and Site Engineers to ensure daily activities are carried out efficiently and safely
Take responsibility for short-term planning and lookahead scheduling
Oversee site documentation including ITPs, RAMS, permits, daily records, and quality assurance
Coordinate with the Project Manager, designers, and subcontractors to resolve engineering and technical issues
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards on site
Support progress reporting, cost tracking, and risk management activities
Act as the key point of contact between site teams and senior management
Requirements:
Strong experience in a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer role on major UK highways or infrastructure projects
Valid and in-date certifications, including:
CSCS card (Management level preferred)
SMSTS
First Aid at Work (Desirable)
Demonstrable leadership experience in supervising engineering teams and subcontractors
Good working knowledge of NEC contracts and UK highways specifications
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
Full UK driving licence
