The Role and Responsibilities
As a Sub Agent, you will be a key figure on-site, acting as a link between the site teams and the Project Manager. You'll be instrumental in ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, all while maintaining high standards of quality. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Project Delivery: Assisting the Project Manager with the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring work is executed efficiently and to the required specifications.
Site Management: Overseeing and coordinating the activities of direct labor, subcontractors, and plant on-site. You will be responsible for resolving on-site issues and ensuring smooth workflow.
Engineering & Technical: Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, and providing technical guidance to the site team. Experience with the construction of complex concrete structures is essential, as is a strong understanding of temporary works.
Health & Safety: Promoting and enforcing a positive health and safety culture. You'll be responsible for conducting site inductions, risk assessments, and ensuring all works are carried out in line with our stringent H&S policies.
Quality Control: Implementing quality assurance procedures, carrying out site inspections, and ensuring all completed works meet the required standards. You will be instrumental in preparing and submitting quality records and documentation.
Reporting: Producing accurate and timely progress reports, tracking project milestones, and highlighting any potential risks or issues to the senior management team.
Light Rail Expertise: We are particularly interested in candidates who have hands-on experience in light rail infrastructure projects, including track works, station construction, and associated civil engineering.
Stakeholder Management: Liaising with clients, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and proactive individual with a strong background in heavy civils. You should possess:
Qualifications: A degree or HNC in Civil Engineering.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role on substantial civil engineering projects. Demonstrable experience with heavy civils, light rail, and concrete structures is a must.
Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, with a solid understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage site teams.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
Problem-Solving: A proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving on-site issues.
Licence: A full, clean UK driving license.
