About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology specialist to join our team as a Subject Leader or Teacher of Food & Nutrition. This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE) with flexibility around working patterns.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled educator to lead and deliver practical, engaging lessons that help students develop essential life skills. You will be working with young people aged 8–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, supporting their progress in a nurturing and structured environment.
If you are an experienced teacher—or an unqualified teacher with the right skills and attitude—who can inspire and motivate young people, we would love to hear from you.
What will you do:
* Lead and deliver high-quality Food & Nutrition lessons that are accessible, practical, and engaging.
* Contribute to curriculum planning and subject development as a Subject Leader (if applicable).
* Support students with SEMH needs, adapting lessons to meet a range of learning and emotional needs.
* Promote a calm, structured, and positive classroom environment.
* Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
* Act as a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff.
* Monitor, track, and report on student progress, contributing to reviews and learning plans.
Our ideal candidate will be:
* A qualified teacher (or unqualified with relevant experience) – leadership experience is a bonus.
* Experienced or confident in working with young people with SEMH or additional needs.
* Calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging behaviour positively and professionally.
* A confident communicator with strong organisational skills.
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
* Passionate about practical learning and helping students gain valuable life and independence skills.
