Are you a clinically strong nurse leader with experience managing teams within substance misuse, mental health, or complex care settings? This is an outstanding opportunity for a Band 7-equivalent nurse to step into a pivotal leadership role as Substance Misuse Lead Nurse overseeing a skilled team across multiple hubs in West Sussex.
We’re partnering with a national provider of integrated drug and alcohol services to recruit a Cluster Lead Nurse – Substance Misuse Service (Equivalent to Band 7) who will drive clinical excellence across a growing and impactful service.
The Role:
What You’ll Be Doing As Substance Misuse Lead Nurse, you will work closely with operational managers and medical leads as part of the senior leadership team to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based care. This role is aligned with the responsibilities expected of a Cluster Lead Nurse – Substance Misuse Service (Equivalent to Band 7).
Your key duties include:
Leading and developing nursing teams across multiple service hubs
Implementing and maintaining clinical models in line with national guidance
Supporting integrated detox pathways, BBV vaccinations, harm reduction, and treatment planning
Championing clinical governance, audit, and safeguarding practices
Leading clinical innovation, performance reviews, and risk management
Acting as a mentor and line manager to nursing and healthcare staff
Representing the service at clinical advisory groups and stakeholder meetings is also a vital part of the role, ensuring visibility and accountability consistent with the role of a Cluster Lead Nurse – Substance Misuse Service (Equivalent to Band 7).
About You:
What We’re Looking For To succeed as Substance Misuse Lead Nurse, you’ll be an NMC-registered nurse with proven experience managing clinical teams, ideally in substance misuse or mental health settings.
We’re especially interested in candidates who:
Are confident leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites
Have detailed knowledge of addiction and recovery clinical interventions
Understand CQC standards and national clinical frameworks
Provide coaching-style leadership and support clinical CPD
Manage safeguarding, change, and operational risk effectively
Experience as a Band 7 or equivalent in the NHS or third sector will make you well-suited for this Cluster Lead Nurse – Substance Misuse Service (Equivalent to Band 7) role.
