Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Supplier Development Engineer to join our clients team in Peterlee.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for assessing supplier quality, ensuring that all incoming products are free from defects and comply fully with manufacturing specifications and legal standards.
Location: Peterlee
Pay Rate: £24 - £28 per hour
Working Hours: 08:00-16:30 (Mon-Thurs) & 08:00-12:00 (Fri)
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Assurance: Conduct tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify and resolve quality issues. You will also develop new supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
Performance Management: Generate reports on supplier quality by monitoring defect rates and identifying potential flaws. You will guide suppliers on how to reduce these defect rates.
Auditing & Development: Research potential new vendors and assess their manufacturing environments and practices. You will conduct regular supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organisational and federal standards.
Process Improvement: Actively support suppliers in improving their performance by enhancing processes, implementing process controls, and developing robust quality assurance plans.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.
Desirable Experience:
A degree is not a mandatory requirement; we welcome applications from anyone with strong on-the-job experience.
Extensive experience with the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Demonstrable experience in supplier management , including supplier evaluation and certification.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing standards and policies.
Working Structure
Location: This is a fully site-based role in Peterlee.
Travel: This position requires travel up to 50% within Europe. Please note that more travel may be required initially to accommodate a handover process.
