Job Title: Supplier Development Lead
Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience.
Location: Bolton or Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Due to increased programme demands, a new opening has become available within the Sub-Assemblies team for a Supplier Development Lead. This role offers a chance to apply your expertise in enhancing supplier capability, ensuring reliable delivery, and managing risk across a diverse and evolving supply base. You'll be part of a dynamic team supporting multiple programmes and technologies, from established systems to emerging innovations.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking a supply chain professional who brings strategic thinking, technical understanding, and hands-on supplier engagement experience. Ideally, you will have:
A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, with a background in international supply chain operations, particularly within advanced engineering or high-tech sectors.
Industry experience in aerospace, defence, or manufacturing, with a proven track record in supply chain or supplier development roles.
Demonstrated success in driving improvements in supplier quality and delivery performance using lean methodologies and structured improvement tools.
The ability to conduct supplier capacity assessments-identifying process constraints, throughput limitations, resource gaps, and mapping supply networks.
Experience managing a portfolio of suppliers, including performance reporting to programme stakeholders and addressing risks through proactive action plans.
Capability in evaluating current supplier capabilities against future programme needs, and formulating strategies to close any gaps.
Competence in process mapping and lead time evaluation to identify optimisation opportunities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ideally with familiarity in methodologies such as DMAIC for root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
A proactive approach to identifying, escalating, and mitigating supply chain risks, and driving improvement initiatives accordingly.
Experience in preparing insightful executive-level summaries based on supplier and performance data.
A willingness to contribute to ongoing departmental improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing overall supply chain excellence.
