Autism Specialist Support Worker – Calthorpe Academy Location: Calthorpe Academy, Birmingham (Satellite Sites: Oaklands & Belgravia) Type: Full-Time / Long-Term Salary: £85–£95 per day (depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start Date: December 2025 The School and Role ABC Teachers are seeking a passionate and dedicated Autism Specialist Support Worker to join the team at Calthorpe Academy, part of the Thrive Education Partnership. Calthorpe Academy provides outstanding education for students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional SEND needs across its Oaklands and Belgravia satellite sites. As an Autism Specialist Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support students in accessing the curriculum, managing sensory and communication needs, and achieving their full potential. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in SEND, ASC, or specialist support roles, or for those passionate about making a difference for young people in specialist education.  Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with ASC as an Autism Specialist Support Worker. Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons adapted to meet ASC needs. Support communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction. Implement individual learning and behaviour plans. Help students access learning during class, therapy, and enrichment activities. Support school trips, outdoor activities, and social integration opportunities. The School Environment Calthorpe Academy offers a structured and supportive environment for students with ASC and complex SEND needs. The satellite sites at Oaklands and Belgravia provide: Small class sizes with highly personalised learning. Specialist ASC-friendly classrooms and therapy spaces. Outdoor learning and enrichment opportunities. A committed, skilled staff team focused on each student’s progress and wellbeing. Students benefit from a holistic approach that supports learning, communication, and emotional development, making this a highly rewarding setting for an Autism Specialist Support Worker. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills. Ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and consistently. Confidence to adapt learning and support to individual needs. A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply). As an Autism Specialist Support Worker with ABC Teachers, You Will Receive: Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system. (Daily rate is subject to your scale rate, experience in role and qualifications which will be discussed at the point of registration.) Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability).
