Job Description

Job Title: Support Worker – Children’s Contract Location: Kent Salary: £27,264.00 - £42,287.00 per annum Hours: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week 8.30am-5pm Contract Type: Permanent Purpose of the Role: Our client, a leading provider of housing solutions, is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team. Reporting to the Support Worker Team Manager and working collaboratively as part of a team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality support and achieving positive outcomes for care leavers, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. The role focuses on supporting their transition into adulthood and independent living. Key Responsibilities: * Manage a caseload of young people, delivering tailored support in line with individual care and pathway plans. * Support young people in developing independent living skills and making positive life choices around education, budgeting, and social engagement. * Conduct regular property visits to ensure living standards meet health and safety requirements, reporting maintenance issues promptly. * Coordinate and attend move-ins and inductions, ensuring young people understand house rules, responsibilities, and support services available. * Liaise effectively with social workers, external agencies, and internal departments to ensure integrated service delivery and timely issue resolution. * Maintain accurate records, update care plans, and ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection, and contract standards. * Attend audits and contribute to internal reviews by communicating findings clearly and supporting continuous service improvement. * Participate in staff meetings, training, and development activities to enhance performance and meet contractual obligations. * Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion by respecting cultural, religious, and individual needs across all aspects of service delivery. Required Skills: * NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Social Care (or equivalent), or a commitment to achieve the qualification within an agreed timeframe. * Strong knowledge and understanding of the Children’s Act and relevant legislation within Children’s Social Care. * Proven experience working with young people in a care or supported housing setting. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, professional relationships with young people, colleagues, and external stakeholders. * Able to remain calm and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. * Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle essential, with daily travel required to support the Children’s Contracts Team while working remotely.
