Luma Education Recruitment is looking for a compassionate and resilient Education Support Worker to support young people within a specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their education, wellbeing and development.
You will work closely with pupils who may experience complex trauma, emotional difficulties and behavioural challenges, providing consistent support, encouragement and positive role modelling.
The role offers temporary-to-permanent opportunities and would suit someone who is empathetic, responsible and confident working independently.
The Role
As an Education Support Worker, you will provide a combination of educational, pastoral and emotional support. You'll help pupils engage with learning, develop essential life skills and manage challenges they may face.
You'll need to be comfortable taking responsibility, using your own initiative and adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide mentoring, encouragement and emotional support to pupils.
* Support young people with complex trauma, emotional and behavioural needs.
* Help pupils engage with education and classroom activities.
* Build trusting and positive relationships with individual pupils.
* Support pupils' social and emotional development.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and other education professionals.
* Accompany pupils to occasional off-site meetings, appointments or activities.
* Use your initiative to respond appropriately to individual pupil needs.
About You
This role would suit someone who is empathetic, patient, reliable and confident, with a genuine interest in helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Essential Requirements
* Genuine interest in supporting children and young people.
* Empathetic, patient and approachable nature.
* Ability to work independently and take responsibility.
* Confidence using initiative and adapting to different situations.
* Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential due to the location and occasional travel with pupils.
* Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Experience
* Teaching Assistant, Education, Youth Work or Health & Social Care qualification.
* Previous experience supporting children or young people.
* Background in education, care, residential support or a similar setting.

* Full-time opportunity within a supportive specialist education setting.
* Temporary-to-permanent opportunities for the right candidate.
* Full training and ongoing professional development.
