Support Worker
Location: Wigston (Leicestershire)
Client: Leicestershire County Council
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: 18.5 hours per week (usually over 3 shifts)
Salary: £12.22 per hour (PAYE) / £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Shift Patterns:
Early shifts: start at 07:30
Afternoon shifts: start from 13:00 and run until 22:00
Alternate weekends requiredPreference: Female staff preferred
About the Role
Waterlees Court is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join their team on a regular basis. The role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to adults, helping them maintain independence and wellbeing. You will work closely with individuals, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver care plans and promote autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver a range of social care tasks including washing, dressing, showering, meal preparation, and domestic activities.
Support individuals in engaging with community activities and maintaining independence.
Undertake delegated healthcare tasks such as prompting medication, applying prescribed creams, and assisting with mobility exercises.
Maintain accurate records and report on individuals’ conditions.
Work independently in the community while adhering to care plans and safety procedures.
Respond to emergencies appropriately and liaise with health professionals as needed.Experience & Knowledge
Previous experience providing personal care and support (paid or voluntary).
Understanding of the Care Act 2014 principles: independence, choice, dignity, and rights.
Knowledge of assistive equipment and common conditions affecting service users.Skills & Competencies
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to record observations accurately.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Safe moving and handling skills.
Basic IT skills for record-keeping.
Commitment to high standards of care and anti-discriminatory practice.Additional Requirements
Level 2/3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or demonstrable experience).
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Enhanced DBS check required.
