Job Description

Earn £14 an hour as a Support Worker and help adults with complex needs build confidence, independence and greater control over their lives. Support Worker Salary: £14.00 per hour, equivalent to £28,028 per annum based on 38.5 hours per week Location: Birmingham, West Midlands, B26 3PN Hours: 12 hour day and night shifts, 8.00am to 8.00pm and 8.00pm to 8.00am Shift pattern: Rolling rota, including alternate weekends Benefits include: Up to £1,000 discretionary bonus and 28 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays About Transforming Support At Transforming Support, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a quality life, make their own choices and work towards goals that genuinely matter to them. Our Birmingham supported living service provides person centred support to adults with learning disabilities and a range of complex needs. We focus on what each person can achieve, helping them build confidence, develop independence and enjoy greater choice and control over their life. The role As a Support Worker, you will provide consistent, respectful support to people living in their own homes. This is not about doing everything for someone. It is about helping each person do as much as possible for themselves, make informed choices and build a life that reflects their interests, goals and individual needs. The difference you make could be helping someone manage their home or finances, supporting them with their health and medication, encouraging a new interest or helping them become more involved in their community. You will take time to understand each person, recognise what matters to them and provide the right balance of practical support, reassurance and encouragement. What you’ll be doing Providing person centred support that protects each person’s dignity, rights and choices Helping individuals develop everyday living skills and become more independent Supporting people to manage their tenancy, health, medication and finances Encouraging community involvement, relationships, personal interests, education and employment Contributing to support plans, assessments, reviews and positive risk management Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with colleagues and professional teams Following safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and quality procedures What you’ll need We are looking for someone who: Has at least six months’ experience working within a care or support setting Genuinely wants to help people live fulfilling and independent lives Communicates clearly, respectfully and confidently Is patient, dependable and able to remain calm when circumstances change Understands the importance of dignity, choice, safeguarding and confidentiality Can work positively as part of a team and respond constructively to feedback Can maintain clear written records and manage their time effectively Is able to work day and night shifts, including alternate weekends You must already have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
