Support Worker (Young People)
Age Range: 16-25
Location: Bracknell
Salary: £13.85 per hour / £28,808 per year
Hours: Full-time, shift-based
We’re looking for a caring, resilient and motivated Support Worker to join our team in Bracknell, a supported housing service for young people aged 16–25. Many of the young people we support have experienced trauma, challenging family environments, time in the care system, and complex emotional or behavioural needs. Our role is to help them build independence, develop life skills and move towards brighter, more secure futures.
We provide 24/7 support for 35 young adults, as well as low-level outreach to 17 tenants living nearby at another service. This role is all about building trusting relationships, offering consistent guidance, and empowering young people to take positive steps forward.
What you’ll do:
*
Build strong, supportive relationships with young people to promote trust and emotional safety
*
Provide practical support with daily living skills such as budgeting, cooking and maintaining a home
*
Support residents in setting personalised goals and achieving them through structured plans
*
Respond to crisis situations with calm, resilience and a trauma-informed approach
*
Encourage involvement in the community, helping young people to feel included and valued
*
Work proactively as part of a team to keep the service running smoothly and positively
We’re seeking someone who is:
*
Empathetic, compassionate and a strong active listener
*
Resilient and able to stay calm under pressure
*
Clear and confident in communication, with the ability to set healthy boundaries
*
Culturally aware and respectful of diverse backgrounds
*
Able to manage challenging behaviour with patience and professionalism
Qualifications & Experience:
We welcome applicants with a variety of backgrounds. The following are desirable but not essential — training and support will be provided:
*
Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People)
*
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
*
Degree in Youth Work or a related field
*
Mental Health First Aid or Trauma-Informed Practice training
Experience working with young people in supported housing, residential care, or a similar setting would be an advantage, but the right values and attitude are what matter most.
What we offer:
*
Salary of £28,808 per year (£13.85 per hour)
*
Ongoing training and development to build your skills and confidence
*
A supportive team environment where your work truly makes a difference
Please note: A driving licence is not required, but the service is a fair distance from the nearest train station
