Job Description
We are currently looking for a Surface Designer with mechanical engineering experience to join our skilled team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can combine aesthetics and function—bringing surfaces to life while considering the mechanical realities of manufacturing.
The Role
As a Surface Designer, you'll work on both the visual and structural aspects of our custom motorhomes. You’ll be responsible for creating surface designs that are both beautiful and manufacturable, collaborating closely with design and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
*
Design and develop product surfaces with a focus on form, material, and texture
*
Use SolidWorks Surfacing and Power Surfacing to create high-quality models
*
Collaborate with engineers and industrial designers to ensure designs are functional and feasible
*
Support the creation of mould-ready models for FRP (fibre-reinforced plastic) components
*
Present a professional portfolio demonstrating both creative and technical design capabilities
Requirements
✅ 3+ years’ experience in surface design (automotive, RVs, consumer products, etc.)
✅ Proficient in SolidWorks Surfacing and Power Surfacing
✅ Strong knowledge of mechanical assemblies, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes
✅ Ability to work collaboratively across teams
✅ Full UK Driving Licence (required)
Desirable (Bonus) Skills

Rendering experience using KeyShot or V-Ray
*
Background in materials research
*
Understanding of DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly)
