Building Surveyor
Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Contract: Temporary (3-6 months)
Rate: £400-£500 per day (DOE)
Hours: 37 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a Local Authority team supporting a diverse property portfolio across Dorset.
This is a hands-on role focused on delivering maintenance, compliance, and capital works projects, ensuring properties are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
This opportunity would suit a proactive and experienced Surveyor who is confident managing projects, contractors, and stakeholders within a public sector or housing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes
Ensure compliance and safety across property assets
Manage capital repair and refurbishment projects
Oversee contractors and project delivery
Manage budgets, procurement, and contracts
Maintain accurate property and performance data
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with:
Experience working as a Building Surveyor or similar role
Strong experience delivering repairs, maintenance, or capital works programmes
Experience managing contractors, budgets, and procurement processes
Good knowledge of property compliance and maintenance standards
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience working within a Local Authority, housing, or public sector environment (desirable)
Relevant qualification (degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or related field)
