Job Description
FREELANCE SURVEYOR REQUIRED
Our client is an independent business based in Horsham, West Sussex, specialising in the supply and fit of double-glazing, windows and doors. We are now looking for a reliable and experienced surveyor. This role would be ideal for someone who has a strong background in windows and doors, fenestration or in construction and home improvements. Excellent technical knowledge of fenestration products, building regulations and standards are required for this role, along with attention to detail, excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
* Evaluating the property to identify any potential issues, such as obstructions or structural limitations that might affect the installation. Taking precise measurements to ensure proper sizing and fit for new installations.
* In-depth product knowledge of window and door designs, materials and energy efficiency standards to advise on the most suitable options for the property. Excellent knowledge of current building regulations, planning controls and other legal requirements of the industry.
* Either an NVQ level 3 in Surveying and/or equivalent experience of surveying in the window and door industry and/or previous experience of installing uPVC products.
* Ability to develop detailed plans for the installation process and liaise with our fitters accordingly. Ability to problem solve – will need to address and challenges or unexpected situations that may arise during the installation process, finding a solution to ensure a successful outcome.
* Monitoring the installation process and ensuring that it is completed to a high standard, meeting the agreed-upon specifications. Liaise with customers and colleagues to explain any survey findings, discuss options and ensure the customers are informed throughout the process, from start to finish.
* Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook to record findings and liaise with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
* Customer focus: excellent interpersonal and communication skills will also be required to interact with a wide demographic of customers – we deal with property developers, builders, sole traders as well as individual customers with smaller renovation projects.
* Full driving licence – there will be a requirement to travel within the region.
