Tail Lift Fitter – Trafford Park, Manchester

 Pay: £15.60 per hour
 Hours: Monday to Friday, 44 hours per week
 Contract: Permanent

 Earning Potential (OTE)

Hourly Rate: £15.60 per hour

Basic Salary: £35,673 per year

Overtime Rate: Paid at time-and-a-half (1.5x) – £23.40 per hour

With 3 hours overtime per week: + £1,825 per year

Realistic OTE: £37,498+ per year

Overview
 We need a qualified Tail Lift Fitter for a specialist coachbuilding team in Trafford Park. You'll handle installation, maintenance, LOLER inspections, and repairs on commercial vehicle tail lifts. No fluff – just solid work on hydraulic and electrical systems.

 Key Responsibilities

Install, service, and repair column, tuckaway, cantilever, and passenger tail lifts

Carry out LOLER inspections and complete all certification to legal standards

Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems – wiring, lighting, control circuits

Work with hydraulic systems – hose replacement, ram repairs, pump servicing, leak diagnosis

Integrate tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions with the coachbuilding team

Conduct pre-delivery checks to ensure safety, compliance, and full operation

Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and compliance docs

Follow all health and safety procedures in the workshop

What You'll Need

LOLER certification (essential) with proven inspection experience

Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring and 12V/24V electrical fault-finding

Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and components

Previous experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts or similar lifting equipment

Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals

Full UK driving licence
