Teacher - Food Technology / Hospitality & Catering Location: Heybridge Salary: MPS 1-6 / UPS 1-3 Contract Type: Permanent Reporting To: Head of Department / Leadership Team About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Teacher of Food Technology / Hospitality & Catering to join our specialist education setting supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH needs and experiences of trauma and adversity. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference by delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences that support both the academic and personal development of pupils. The successful candidate will teach Food Technology at KS3 and Hospitality & Catering at KS4 while contributing to a nurturing, trauma-informed and highly supportive environment. As a split-site provision, this role may involve teaching across different locations and occasionally delivering lessons online. Key Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology and Hospitality & Catering lessons across KS3 and KS4. Differentiate learning to meet individual pupil needs and abilities. Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress using school systems and assessment tools. Deliver engaging lessons that promote practical skills, confidence and independence. Contribute to wider curriculum delivery where appropriate. SEND & Personalised Learning Provide tailored support and adaptive teaching strategies for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. Contribute to EHCP documentation, annual reviews and personalised learning plans. Support pupils' social, emotional and life-skills development through a trauma-informed approach. Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants to ensure effective classroom support. Pastoral & Behaviour Support Act as a Form Tutor and key point of contact for families and carers. Promote positive behaviour and strong relationships in line with school policy. Support pupil wellbeing, personal development and future aspirations. Work alongside families, external agencies and partner schools to support pupil progress and reintegration where appropriate. Professional Responsibilities Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times. Participate fully in staff meetings, training and professional development. Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives and curriculum development. Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with school procedures. Be flexible and mobile across sites where required. What We're Looking For Essential Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology and/or Hospitality & Catering Secure understanding of the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice Understanding of the impact of trauma and adversity on child development Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues Resilient, adaptable and solution-focused approach Ability to analyse pupil progress and set meaningful targets Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education Desirable Experience teaching within SEMH, SEND or specialist education settings Additional SEND-related qualifications or training Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification Experience working with multi-agency teams and external professionals Experience in pastoral support or community liaison work Safeguarding Statement We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
