We are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Rochdale area to recruit a committed and enthusiastic English specialist. About the Role
The successful candidate will join a thriving English department and play a key role in delivering the national curriculum to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Depending on experience and departmental needs, there may also be opportunities to teach Key Stage 5. Responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging lessons that promote a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL.
Preparing students for GCSE examinations, including coursework and exam technique.
Using a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor progress.
Maintaining high standards of behaviour and fostering a positive classroom culture.
Participating in departmental planning, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives.
Supporting extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, theatre trips, or creative writing workshops.Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
Have a degree in English or a closely related subject.
Demonstrate recent experience teaching English in a UK secondary school setting.
Be confident in managing classroom behaviour and creating inclusive learning environments.School Ethos
