Religious Education (RE) Teacher
Location: Durham
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: January 2026
A Good secondary school in Durham is seeking an inspiring, reflective, and dedicated RE Teacher to join their successful Humanities department from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a deeper understanding of a wide range of religious and ethical perspectives.
Role Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality RE lessons in line with the national curriculum.
* Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering world religions, ethics, philosophy, and contemporary moral issues.
* Create an inclusive and respectful learning environment that encourages open discussion, empathy, and analytical thinking.
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support.
* Monitor pupil progress, assess learning, and provide constructive feedback to support academic development.
* Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations, ensuring they feel confident and well supported.
* Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the Humanities department.
* Support enrichment activities such as debate clubs, cultural events, or educational visits where appropriate.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Experience teaching RE at KS3-KS4.
* Strong subject knowledge and the ability to bring religious, ethical, and philosophical concepts to life.
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
* A commitment to fostering respect, understanding, and high achievement among students.
