Role: Teacher of Spanish and Mandarin Location: Barnet Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Pay Scale: £150 – £250 per day (depending on experience) Language opens doors – to careers, cultures, and connections across the globe. This full-time, permanent position is ideal for a forward-thinking educator who is passionate about delivering high-quality language instruction and nurturing students’ confidence in both Spanish and Mandarin. As a Teacher of Spanish and Mandarin, you’ll play a key role in helping young learners embrace new cultures and communicate in more than one global language. Key Responsibilities as a Teacher of Spanish and Mandarin: • Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging Spanish and Mandarin curriculum that covers essential topics and language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. • Effective Classroom Instruction: Provide clear and effective instruction, utilizing innovative teaching methods, technology, and cultural resources to make complex language concepts accessible and relatable to students. • Student Assessment: Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including quizzes, tests, oral presentations, and projects, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth. • Mentorship and Guidance: Foster a love for language learning, cultural appreciation, and effective communication skills in students, guiding them towards their academic and personal development, and preparing them for future opportunities in a global society. • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and a strong passion for both Spanish and Mandarin among students. • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of language education, bringing current industry insights into the classroom and participating in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field. Experience teaching both Spanish and Mandarin at secondary level (or willingness and capability to teach both). Strong command of the MFL national curriculum and effective assessment methods. A passion for fostering linguistic confidence and global awareness in students. Excellent communication, time-management, and team collaboration skills. A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
