This is a unique opportunity for a resilient and committed educator to teach within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) or Alternative Provision, supporting young learners who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion. You’ll be instrumental in creating a safe, structured, and inspiring learning environment for pupils with complex behavioural needs, social challenges, or trauma backgrounds.
About the Role
Teaching a small group of KS2–KS4 pupils with high levels of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
Planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual learning plans and emotional regulation levels
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced school trauma or disengagement
Supporting the development of self-regulation, resilience, and social skills through consistent boundaries and therapeutic approaches
Collaborating with therapists, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes

Who This Role Would Suit
A qualified or unqualified teacher with experience or interest in SEMH, PRU, or alternative education
An aspiring SEMH specialist, SENDCO, youth mentor, or inclusion leader
Someone who thrives in a non-traditional teaching environment and is passionate about turning lives around
A reflective practitioner with excellent classroom management and de-escalation skills
Experience in behaviour support, trauma-informed care, or youth work is highly desirable
